The University of Chicago Medicine’s Orland Park Clinic is a 4-story, 106,000 SF medical office building. MEPIS was commissioned by ESA to provide MEP/FP design for the build out of select spaces in the 2nd and 3rd floor, made vacant by the relocation of services to the new fourth floor build-out under a separate project. Spaces were renovated for additional support spaces and for the installation of a new imaging units: a CT unit and an MRI unit.
Engineering scope of work included HVAC systems, electrical power distribution, branch outlets, lighting systems, raceways for low voltage systems, plumbing systems, and fire protection. Challenges for the design included providing power to the new imaging units given the limitations with the building’s existing electrical infrastructure and designing plumbing systems around the existing building’s infrastructures through existing occupied spaces in the floors below.
