University of Chicago Medicine | Cummings Life Science Center 10th Floor Renovation

The project site is located on the 10th floor of Cummings Life Science Center (CLSC) building. The scope included demolition and reconstruction of approximately 14,000 GSF of partially vacated and former wet laboratory/laboratory support, and private offices into new private offices and open office workstations utilizing Biological Sciences (BSD) space type, finish, and furniture guidelines. Program components included a new IDF closet to support VOIP services, zoned HVAC controls, and appropriate signage to support the reconfigured space. As with any construction project in an occupied facility, active spaces needed to be maintained with no interruption. Expansion and modifications of MEP/FP utilities were required to accommodate the new occupancies and conform to modern practices. Primary changes consisted of modifications to the existing HVAC system along with providing additional standby power to the space.
