MEPIS was commissioned by the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to perform an electrical survey and documentation to provide as-built drawings and a set of short circuit studies—including new arc flash labels—for four satellite offices: Clark and Deming in Chicago; an office in Westchester, IL; and an office in Northbrook, IL. MEPIS provided a team of field technicians that documented the building’s electrical distribution and took all required information: locations, amperages and voltages, horsepower or KVA ratings, circuit breaker or fuse information, and feeder sizes and lengths. From the survey notes, basic floor plans and a new one-line diagram was developed. A short-circuit, selective coordination, and arc flash study was performed as part of the contract. Data was input into SKM, where the analyses were performed. A report was generated along with arc flash labels for the entire system of each building.
