POSITION DESCRIPTION: As an Electrical Engineer at MEPIS, you’ll be a part of a diverse team that works closely with all MEPIS' clients on a variety of projects, both small and large. As an Electrical Engineer, you will actively be a part of the full project cycle, starting with the pre-programming phase, throughout the construction, and participate in the close-out as well.
Although this is an Electrical Engineer role, we operate as a team, working closely with our Architecture, Mechanical, Plumbing/Fire Protection and Leadership teams will be essential. You will perform work predominantly in higher education, healthcare and industrial facilities, and will require the initiative to ownership of your work as needed with minimal supervision. YOUR EXPERIENCE SHOULD INCLUDE:
2 years of experience in electrical design and analysis of building systems and campuses, or previous internship experience with a MEP (building systems) engineering firm
- Modeling & Analysis of all aspects of the electrical systems
- Interface with code officials and contractors, and working with architects and clients
- EIT certification not required, but valued and expected to be a goal, as well as eventual Professional Engineer state licensure
- Designing building electrical systems
- Calculating accurate loads of electrical systems
- Develop project specifications to accompany design drawings
- Survey and evaluation of existing building and site conditions
DESIRED SOFTWARE PROFICIENCIES:
- Recent AutoCAD (2010 and beyond) required
- Microsoft Office Suite Programs required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Some experience with SKM or similar Power Analysis Software required (ability to input data and interpret results on a basic level)
- Revit experience strongly preferred; ability to learn it as needed required
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize Revit and AutoCAD MEP to produce drawings and models for various projects
- Coordination and Collaboration between MEPIS, Inc. Teams
- Participate in Shop Drawing as part of the submittal and review process
- Respond to project RFI’s accurately and in a timely manner
- Construction site visits and reviews to confirm process is in alignment with drawings provided
- Code Reviews to verify project compliance
- Completing additional duties as assigned
