MEPIS was commissioned by McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. (MIA) for the Sarah Newman Zooarchaeology Lab Remodel at the University of Chicago. MEPIS provided MEP Design Engineering. The Mechanical scope consisted of design for demolition of one existing fume hood without replacement, provide new mechanically vented enclosure, review test and balance on existing exhaust fan, rebalance/replace existing exhaust fan, evaluate perimeter heating, incorporate into new case work design, rebalance existing VAV to new airflow. The Electrical scope included design modifications of lighting and controls, replace/provide new receptacles at perimeter as required for casework modifications and equipment, provide new power receptacles/hardwire connections as required for oven, freezer, and vented enclosure, new ceiling receptacles/cord reels to serve worktables, new utility light fixtures. The Plumbing scope was made up of design demolition of one existing sink and provide a new sink, upgrading sinks, provide sediment traps, and strainers.
