MEPIS was commissioned by SmithGroup for the relocation of the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH). The total square footage of the proposed space is 15,150 SF. The work is being performed on the lower level and 2nd floor of Pod D of the existing facility. A new generator set is being requested due to a perceived lack of emergency power in the space. This project consists of Schematic Design through Construction Documents and Construction Administration including permits. The mechanical work consists of the design of local supply return exhaust ductwork, temperature control systems and design of systems (e.g. natural gas) to accommodate new generator equipment. Electrical work consists of design of a new generator set and associated distribution, design of existing electrical distribution system, design of interior building lighting power and controls, design of feeders and branch circuiting for equipment, appliances and wiring devices, design of raceways for telecommunications and other low voltage systems. Plumbing work consist of design of domestic hot and cold-water systems, design of sanitary, waste and vent piping systems. Fire Protection and Fire Alarm work consist of design of sprinkler zones and layouts, including relocation of existing sprinkler heads, design modifications to the fire alarm system. Lighting work consists of design of light fixtures, photometric calculations. Telecommunication work consist of design of structured cabling system for the LAN, including layout of copper and fiber, design of riser, backbones, telecom closets distribution to outlets, service entrance for data and telephone circuits.
